Hey, Wauwatosa! I’m Heidi, the owner of Zuri and Floyd Salon. I opened Zuri and Floyd during Covid times, which also happened to be my 10^th year in the beauty industry. I am a graduate of the Institute of Beauty and Wellness, an Aveda beauty school here in Milwaukee. In 2013, I chose to stop being an employee at a salon in favor of renting a chair at a salon—my first step to becoming a business owner. 

I loved the chair-rental model so much that I decided my next adventure would be opening my own salon based on that concept. After a lot of hard work and planning, Zuri and Floyd opened its door in September of 2020, and I couldn’t be more grateful to the community and clients who supported me through the process.  

Opening Zuri and Floyd allows me to pursue my passion for doing hair, and also lets me lean into my love of interior design. I’ve built this space to feel inviting, modern, and just the right amount of cool, and I’m committed to filling it with stylists that are highly skilled, customer focused, and a lot of fun to work with.

I’m often asked to explain my favorite part of doing hair, which is actually pretty tough to do. I think it stems from a love of people. I love great conversations and it is so so satisfying to make people feel beautiful. We struggle so much with self-image, often comparing ourselves to others and criticizing the features that make us unique. I like to think I help reveal the beauty in all of our unique features, while also acting as a stand-in therapist for my clients.
